It's been a while

Ann Bayliss - Transfer monotype

Carol Wisdom - Painterly Monotype

Well I know it's been a while since I wrote a posting, This is because there are only so many hours in the day and there are times when I feel like I'm welded to my laptop so a break is required every now and again. On top of that for the last moth I've been teaching on Fridays, firstly Painterly Monotypes followed by Transfer MonoTypes, 2 Fridays of each.

The groups were small and intimate, we never have any more than 10 on a course but these two courses had 7 and 4 respectively. Some of those who booked on the first one booked the second one too. This works really well when it happens for several reasons. The students booked on the second course get to see another approach to the medium from those who booked the first course.

Those that booked both courses can use their less successful prints as the basis for further development using transfer monotype usually with considerable success thereby transforming a print that may have been destined for the bin to one they are more than happy with. And, if not, they have still had a chance to try a technique out with very little risk so they can translate their learning to a more successful print later once they see how it all works. Otherwise known in corporate speak as a win/win situation.

You can see examples of both painterly and transfer monotypes on our Flickr account here and here
